Our large rolling pastures with fresh running water and wooded trails are a perfect place to raise a young horse in a social herd while still having daily handling.

These young horses learn in a group setting to negotiate obstacles, overcome fears and become settled mature horses ready to go on with more specialized training.

Your horse will be handled daily, cared for with gentleness and love, as well as trained with natural horsemanship techniques. They will be taught respect as we gain trust. We make sure they receive regular health care including wormers, vaccinations and farrier work. They will be in a herd group similar in age and disposition. They will be offered shelter with 24 hour turnout. The facility is clean, neat and safe.

For a regular monthly maintenance agreement, your horse will receive plenty of healthy grass hay and pasture, good grain, horse mineral blocks and a constant supply of fresh water along with regular grooming and handling. You will receive updates on your horses progress by email or phone. Also included is a video of your horse as it grows every 6 months and a webpage devoted to your horse including updated photos.

For an accelerated training add-on, we will include extra handling and training as age appropriate. This will include trailer training, bathing, clipper training, light round pen training and ground work. Advanced training can include ponying with a safe older horse, ground driving and introduction to saddle work. Your horse can also be trained to drive if you choose.

You will receive a detailed health record for your horse annually. You are also welcome to visit your horse as often as possible.

Cedar Lane Farm can oversee the gelding procedure and aftercare for your horse. We will administer special supplements as desired. Additional costs to the regular agreement will be any vet care, farrier work, supplements and wormers. Mortality insurance is not included. Cedar Lane Farm can help arrange mortality/health insurance if you would like.

If circumstances change or you should need to sell your horse at a future date, Cedar Lane Farm can arrange help with marketing and selling your horse.

We have many nice young horses available for purchase or can help arrange the purchase of a horse suitable for your needs. If you want to show, breed or just have a companion horse for the future, consider raising one the right way!
